This conference will compare the present and future of diversity; explore themes of diversity, identity and equality; and, offer a tangible application of these concepts to everyday practice in higher education. The goal is to look at the many expressions of diversity and endeavor to compare the present understanding of the concept and its impact on policies and cultural behaviors in Europe and in the United States through a focus on widening participation and access.

Lester A. Lefton Persistence Award

The Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion oversees two scholarship accounts, the Lestor A. Lefton Persistence Award and the Vice President for DEI Development Fund. Scholarships are awarded from these accounts to help ensure students are given every opportunity to succeed by providing funding for tuition and books. Creating and embracing an inclusive environment is important to the mission of Kent State University.  We recognize that some students use a name other than their legal name to identify themselves. As such, Kent State University has established a process for students to request a preferred name.
